Update on potencial CP rail strike

Union Members at CP Rail Vote to Authorize Strike

Union members of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) have voted in favor of a strike mandate beginning March 16, 2022, if a collective bargaining agreement isn’t reached. The possible work stoppage will affect approximately 3,000 Canadian Pacific Railway (CP Rail) locomotive engineers, conductors, trainpersons, and yard persons. According to the union, the main issues include disagreements on wages, benefits, and pensions.

The mediation process between the union and CP will take place March 11-16, 2022, with assistance from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.

Union members last went on strike at CP in May 2018, which only lasted a few days. At that time, members of the TCRC and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers signed a four-year agreement with CP, which expired on December 31, 2021.
