Impact To CN Transports By The Fires In Lytton, BC

Impact to CN transports by the fires in Lytton, BC

Further to the advisory we sent yesterday with regards to the fires in Lytton, BC please be informed that it has now impacted the key access route towards the ports in Vancouver. At this point we expect the impact on mainline to last beyond 72 hours, we continue to monitor & assess the situation and will provide periodical updates through the weekend. Given this situation we have to take some immediate measures to protect the fluidity of our network which will only help expedite the recovery process.

Exports: Any Customers who already booked reservation can ingate into CN origin ramps as per RV date, no new capacity will be provided to Roberts Bank, Centerm, Vanterm and Fraser Surrey till further notice. Our Customer Experience team will provide a list of all export containers either moving on a train or at inland origins so changes to Vessels can be made, no change of destination (port terminal) will be accepted for any containers that are already enroute. Customers who wish to pick up export loads at CN ramps can do so at no additional cost, please contact our IMX-EXPORT@CN.CA team to make these arrangements. We will be contacting customers to review options to divert selected traffic ( that has yet to depart) towards Rupert .

Imports: CN’s Port team is working closely with all the Ports in Vancouver to provide  updates(multiple times) on daily inbound rail car footage and will work with these terminals to coordinate the daily outbound loading. CN will suspend any trucking to VIT (Vancouver Intermodal Terminal) till further notice from the Vancouver Port terminals. Please do contact IMX-IMPORT@CN.CA should you require further information.

Reefers: Any Customers who already have valid reefer reservation can ingate into CN origin ramps as per RV date however the units will not depart , any further reefer services to Vancouver will be suspended till further notice. Our Customer Experience team will provide a list of all reefer export containers either moving on a train or at inland origins so changes to Vessels can be made, no change of destination (port terminal) will be accepted for any containers that are already enroute. Customers who wish to pick up reefer export loads at CN ramps can do so at no additional cost, please contact our IMX-REEFER@CN.CA team to make these arrangements.

We are reviewing the trucking of import reefer containers from the Ports in Vancouver and will provide an update later. Any exports reefers at VIT or arriving will be drayed to the Ports as per usual process. We will be contacting customers to review options to divert selected reefer export traffic ( that has yet to depart) towards Rupert assuming it is viable depending on vessel routing.

Empty Equipment : Customers who have reservations already secured will be allowed to ingate as per RV date, any unused capacity for empty containers to Roberts Bank, Centerm, Vanterm and Fraser Surrey will be removed from the system and no new capacity to these destinations will be added until further notice. Customers who wish to change destinations for containers already in gated, can contact our
IMX-EQPT@CN.CA team to find out the possibility to do so. Should there be an opportunity to change the destination to Prince Rupert for containers already enroute, the IMX-EQPT team will reach out directly to evaluate the possibility and secure the necessary authorization from Customers to do so.

We do apologize for the inconvenience this disruption is causing, we continue to monitor the situation and will provide you with further updates as they become available.

Please do not hesitate to contact your Account Manager or our Customer experience team should you have questions or require further information.
