Hong Kong Airport Protestors

All Flights Cancelled For Second Day, As Protesters Occupy Hong Kong Airport

Hong Kong’s Airport Authority has grounded all departing flights as protesters began to occupy the building, and has redirected all but a handful of incoming flights. Earlier reports noted that some pilots, flight crews, and air traffic controllers have joined the demonstrations; Beijing has characterized the ongoing protests as “beginning to show the sprouts of terrorism” in response. The airport aims to restart flights at 6 AM local time Tuesday amidst over 180 cancelled or redirected because of the protests—most of these were passenger flights.
